To many poker players, the bluff is the ultimate skill one can hope to attain in ones lifetime as a poker player. For them, the bluff is the ultimate expression of ones skill and determination in the game.
The bluff is also seen as a milestone that one has to complete for them to be labeled as poker players. Bluffing is an integral part of the game and players must be able to pull of an effective bluff when the need for it arises.
The omission of the bluff in any poker game would make the game dull and boring and those playing the game would have to rely on their own skills to make the game worth playing.
Playing the bluff move is advised when a player has no chance of winning the jackpot or when a player is trying to obtain the pot before all hands are dealt. One must compare the odds of making a successful bluff and execute the deed. One has also to realize that bluffing is for ones own interest. Table image: A bluff is also dependent if a player is perceived to have a loose table image than a tight one. Reverse psychology is the key factor of the game here. If a good player is found out to be bluffing, any play that is made is going to be called every time.
"Reading" skills By carefully reading ones opponent can the bluff be used. A good bluff must be sued when one sees an opportunity arise in the game. Reading is one of the most difficult skill to master for it takes a lot time and effort to perfect. Reading has many levels and at the most basic level players study the facial expressions of their opponents.
